Direct Payments Warwickshiredirect payments

Get involved with planning the support you need to help you manage your Direct Payments in the future.

All our County Council contracts are for a set period of time and the current Direct Payment Support Service contract ends during 2012. Consequently we must start to think about what is required to deliver this type of support in the future

Autumn Get Together. award

This Saturday Les, Kate, Anna and Jet headed to the FSH Autumn Get Together in Gloucester. We had a stand at the Get Together with our new leaflets and Service Menu and Les presented a talk on Personal Budgets, Brokerage and an update on the Independent Living Fund. The talk was met with much enthusiasm and we have been invited by the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign to present further talks.

It was great to meet lots of new people and catch up with familiar faces, but the highlight of the day was Jet being presented with an award by the FSH-MD Support Group for 'outstanding care, support and loyalty when …looking after his owner…'.

Rotary International District 1250canine partners

Les and Jet recently attended the Rotary International District 1250 meeting at Gaydon Heritage Car Museum, where Les presented to a 300 strong audience on how his life has changed since being 'partnered' with Jet. He also spoke of some of Jet's best and worst moments; the best being Jet finding a phone and blanket after Les had a particularly bad fall. Jet also ensured Les stayed conscious by playfully licking and nudging his face. The worst involving Jet and a pile of fox poo.

Roxburgh UK at FSH Autum Get Together.

Les and Kate from Roxburgh UK will be at the FSH- MD Support Group 'Autumn Get Together' on the 23rd October in Gloucester. Les will be providing a talk on Personal Budgets, the role of a Broker and an update on the Independent Living Fund.

We will also be having a stand at the Get Together, with information on the services provided by Roxburgh UK, and information on Canine Partners and Fallen Fusiliers. Come and say hi to Les, Kate and Jet at the stand. We may even have a few Canine Partner's 'Buddy' Labrador teddies, complete with their own purple jacket, and some Fallen Fusiliers 'Bobby' Antelopes

Jet.canine partner

For those of you who haven't met Jet, he is Les' Canine Partner and assists him with day to day tasks, such as picking up dropped items like keys, pens and the mail. He is also trained to unload the washing machine, open and shut doors and retrieve items, particularly important ones like Les' phone in an emergency.

Canine Partners is a registered charity and has been around since 1990. They specialise in training dogs, mainly Labradors, Retrievers and Labradoodles, to assist disabled people, giving individuals greater independence and a better quality of life. Canine Partners like Jet not only help disabled individuals with physical tasks, but also have psychological and social benefits, with many Partners finding their confidence having increased since having a Canine Partner. It seems dogs really are a man, or woman's, best friend!

Roxburgh UK Re-brand.roxburgh uk

Here at Roxburgh UK we've decided to freshen up the website and logo with a re-brand. We decided that we needed something more refreshing than the browns and deep reds used in our current logo and after bandying around all sorts of ideas, colours and texts, we've finally settled on this new logo. Hope you all like it!
